Starting Over

I am TERRIBLE at this whole blogging thing! However, I feel like at this point in my journey, I need to start keeping track of things somehow. Therefore, I get to bore you guys with tales of food, exercise and, well, food. :)

This first post is probably going to take a whole lot out of me. I am going to post pictures. For those who don't know me personally, I don't do pictures. I prefer to be behind the camera...NOT in front of it. I have gotten better with the whole "selfie" thing, but full body shots are strictly prohibited. That being said, some of my close friends and family have been able to sneak pictures in here and there. I tend to run screaming from the site of a camera in someone else's hands, so the fact that they were able to get pictures at all is a miracle on their part. ;) There are certain times where I will pose for a picture, and I am including one of them below, but normally this is because I have conquered some sort of obstacle or hit a goal I have wanted to achieve. Enough babbling.

August 2017 with my amazing friend Denise! I can not even begin to tell you all how much I love this woman! She is beyond amazing. She has helped me more then I think she even knows she has. This picture was taken at the Wright Brothers Memorial in North Carolina.

This was the view from the start point - the bottom of the hill. The year before I couldnt even make it on flat land let alone even attempt to climb this monster. But with Denise by my side urging me on and my husband behind me doing the same, I made it. We made it.

This was also August 2017 in NC. I was pretty disgusted with myself after seeing this picture.

This was October 2017. I am including this one because this is the same shirt I took my current pictures in this morning. Again, UGH!

December 31, 2017 - The day before I started the Whole30 lifestyle. Please excuse the bed head.

After 31 days....

January 31, 2018. Down 13.1 lbs from the December picture.

To lots of people, those pictures may not show a whole lot of progress, and that is OK. I FEEL sooooo much better. My husband and I have decided to continue our Whole30 into the coming months. We both have goals and we really want to be happier, healthier people.

We are, yet again, going to NC at the end of August this year for our annual vacation. I love NC and we are planning on moving there whenever we can make that possible. I wore my back brace everywhere we went this past year in NC. I would love to not have to do that this year. I would love to be able to walk on the beach and not hurt. I would love to put on a swimsuit and be confident. So I have goals.

My start weight, Dec 31, was 286.7. My current weight, Jan 31 2018, is 273.6. I would LOVE to be 206 lbs by the time we leave for vacation. Is this impossible? Probably....but I'm gonna try! 206 is how much I weighed when I met my husband 16 years ago. Anything past 206 is a bonus to me at this point.

I think this is where I am going to end this post. I am hoping to hop on here every day or two to fill you in, keep me straight, and maybe share some recipes! I am really enjoying the cooking that I have been doing on the Whole30. If you would have told me a year ago I would be cooking real meals that are delicious AND healthy everyday I would have laughed in your face.

So here is to another month of eating clean and upping my exercise! Opening day for Busch Gardens is March 24th....We are all super excited! We love that place and plan on spending a fair amount of time there this summer.

:)
